The end to Yellowstone’s epic run is “exactly as it should be,” according to one of the hit show’s stars, who also happens to be one of its biggest fans.

“Thank God, because they’re really good,” Luke Grimes who plays Kayce Dutton on Yellowstone told Newsweek of the final show scripts.

“We know everything that’s going to happen and I’ll say that I was not disappointed at all, being a fan of the show and having been very invested myself,” Grimes said.

Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, the Western TV drama premiered in 2018 on the Paramount+ streaming service and wasted no time becoming appointment television.

Now, after five seasons and a nearly two-year wait, Yellowstone will finally conclude its run.

The show follows the lives, and more specifically the drama, of the Dutton family, a well-established, influential ranching clan based in Montana that runs the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the U.S. Headed by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the family is shown trying to defend their land and business against multiple threats and try to stop itself from self-imploding from the constant infighting.

The first half of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season concluded in January 2023, but due to marquee star Costner leaving the show—over rumored creative differences with Sheridan—and the SAG-AFTRA strikes, filming for the remainder of the season was put on hold.

Fans do not need to wait much longer as Yellowstone returns to Paramount+ on Sunday, November 10. The final six episodes will wrap up the intense family feuds, and threat to the family ranch and hopefully reveal John Dutton’s fate.

The first part of season five saw responsibility of the ranch given to John’s son, Kayce, while his dad was busy running the state as Montana’s governor.

Grimes plays the dutiful Kayce on Yellowstone whose character is trying to rebuild his family after his pregnant wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), was in a car accident and they lost their baby son.

The actor spoke about how the series will end and how he thinks fans will be very satisfied with its conclusion.

“I read the final script and was blown away, it’s just beautiful. It’s profound and exactly as it should be,” Grimes said.

Grimes became so influenced by his time working on Yellowstone that he ended up buying a house in Montana and moving his family there.

“I moved up to where we shoot the show four years ago, and it’s been the best place I’ve ever lived. I think it just suits me, I sleep better there,” Grimes said. “If you would have told me in season one that I was going to move there, I would’ve figured you were crazy. But then it just got inside me.”

Yellowstone returns on Sunday, November 10 at 8 pm ET/PT on Paramount Network.
