What To Know
Reformation is a sustainable fashion brand, founded in Los Angeles in 2009. It counts the likes of singer Taylor Swift and model Kaia Gerber among its fans. It has previously collaborated with activist Monica Lewinsky and singer Kacey Musgraves.
Over the years, the brand has become known for its social media presence and advertising campaigns, the latest of which is its Valentine’s Day campaign, which casts a tattoo-less Pete Davidson as “The Perfect Boyfriend.” The campaign video shared on the brand’s Instagram page has received one million views at the time of reporting.
What Happened to Pete Davidson’s Tattoos?
The Staten Island native has been in the process of getting his tattoos removed.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January, he said the process was “horrible,” but that his tattoos were “almost gone.”
“It’s worse [than getting a tattoo]. They have to burn off a layer of your skin, and then it has to heal for, like, six to eight weeks, and you can’t get in the sunlight. And then you’ve gotta do it, like, 12 more times,” Davidson said.
He then joked, “So really think about that Game of Thrones tattoo you’re thinking of getting.”
Davidson had around 200 tattoos on his body at one point. He had previously gotten multiple tattoos, dedicated to now ex-girlfriends, Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande.
The comedian once had a bunny-eared mask tattoo behind his ear, an homage to the cover of Grande’s 2016 album, Dangerous Woman. Davidson also had the name Kim branded onto his chest while he was dating the reality TV star, as well as having the initials KNSCP tattooed, which referenced Kim and the four children she shares with Kanye West, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
What People Are Saying
Pete Davidson on the Today Show: “I got sober, and I saw myself in the mirror, and I was like, ‘Nah.’ I was like ‘I need to change up a little bit.”
The account Hollabackcards in an Instagram post wrote: “Guys I knew Pete Davidson was getting his tattoos removed but I just got this email from Reformation and almost fell out of my seat.
One person commented on the Reformation video: “Never seen Pete look so good.”
What’s Next
Davidson told late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon that he wants a “clean slate.” He may well inspire others to get tattoos removed.
