No injuries were reported after a tractor-trailer slammed into an occupied apartment building in Abbottstown on Saturday morning, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of West King Street, U.S. Route 30, in Abbottstown around 5:11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, for a report of a vehicle into a building, according to Adams County 911 records.

When they arrived, they found a tractor-trailer had struck the side of an occupied apartment building, said United Hook & Ladder deputy chief Dustin Poist.

No one was injured in the wreck, Poist said, noting that the incident could have been “much worse” as an occupant was present within the apartment unit on the other side of the wall that had been struck.

Only minor structural damage was reported to the exterior wall of the apartment itself, Poist said, and it was believed that occupants may be able to remain in their homes once the damage is boarded up.

The driver of the tractor-trailer required some assistance getting out of his vehicle due to the debris, Poist said, but declined treatment by EMS.
