Seeley Lake man killed in head-on crash with semi

Mar. 12—A Seeley Lake man is dead after colliding head-on with a semi-truck Tuesday morning on the Seeley-Swan highway.
The 45-year-old man was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup south on Montana 83 at 9:48 a.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle near mile marker 26, according to an incident report from Montana Highway Patrol. The driver failed to move back into the southbound lane and collided with a Kenworth 999 semi driven by a 43-year-old Kalispell man.
The driver of the Dodge Dakota was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene of the crash. The semi driver was buckled up and was not injured.
Speed is a suspected factor in the crash, according to the report. Road conditions were wet and slushy.
