Lancaster police identify elderly woman whose decomposing remains were found in house
The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman whose decomposing remains were found earlier this month in a home by Lancaster police executing a search warrant there, police announced Thursday on their Facebook page.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Lorraine Arnold, 92, of Lancaster. On Oct. 9, detectives with Lancaster police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Lynwood Lane while looking for the woman as a missing person, The Dispatch previously reported.
The next day, police arrested her daughter, 58-year-old, Katharine Arnold, 58, also of Lancaster, and charged her with felony abuse of a corpse.
A Fairfield County grand jury indicted Arnold on Wednesday on that initial charge, which is a fifth-degree felony. She remains in custody at the Fairfield County jail, police said.
