After Ed Kelce shared an old photo of his uncle on Instagram, who has the same name, people pointed out how similar he looks to Travis Kelce.

Ed Kelce is the father of Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs who is dating pop superstar Taylor Swift. He is also the father of Jason Kelce, a former center with the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Travis Kelce’s dad, the photo was taken during World War II. It shows the older Ed Kelce wearing a uniform with a medal on his breast.

“No that’s not Travis in some movie. It’s my Uncle Ed in WWll,” he captioned the post, with fans taking to the comments to highlight the resemblance between the NFL star and his great-uncle.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Travis Kelce for comment on Wednesday.

“So now we know what side of the family Travis’ face comes from,” one person wrote.

“Literally twins!!!!” another person commented, to which a different commenter added: “Such a resemblance to Travis! Thank you for your service.”

“Family resemblance is strong! That is amazing—even the way he is currently styling his hair. I love looking at old family photos. Happy Veterans Day to all who have served,” someone else posted.

While the older Ed Kelce was a member of the U.S. military, Travis Kelce’s dad was rejected when he tried to join. He wasn’t accepted by the Army due to a knee injury he had from his high school football days, which was still causing him issues.

“Everybody in my family prior to me was in the service. We’re also talking about family [that] lived through World War II, so that’s what everybody did because that was the background,” he told his sons during an appearance on the New Heights podcast.

“I got a little p**** off actually at the recruiter’s office with the Army because, you know, you got people going to Canada to keep from getting drafted and I’m here offering to come in and I had some gristled old sergeant just chew me out about, you know, ‘What am I going to tell the mother of the guy that dies trying to carry your big a** out of there because you can’t walk.’

“A legitimate point he had, a legitimate point. And he said, ‘You really want to serve your country, you want to be in the service, you could try the Navy or Coast Guard. I’d recommend the Coast Guard, the Navy is going to give you s*** about your knees too.'”

He began training with the Coast Guard but, unfortunately, his Crohn’s disease flared up for the first time in his life and he never served.

Ed Kelce added: “I enlisted in the Coast Guard and the Crohn’s reared up. I never had that before and I was… I was sick. I went through most of the basic training with some severe gastrointestinal issues.”

The famous father went on to have a successful career in the steel industry while also raising his two sons.
