A family has gone viral for surprising their 12-year-old son with a dirt bike for his birthday, and his grateful reaction was the cherry on top.

Sarah Stevens, from Arkansas, shared a video of her son, Case, opening his birthday presents, unaware his dad was bringing in a shiny red dirt bike in the background.

“Case had been wanting a dirt bike for probably two years,” Stevens told Newsweek. “I was always solid no. [But] his dad finally talked me into it since Case is so responsible with other activities we enjoy.”

In the video, which has been viewed more than 10 million times since being posted to Stevens’ account @sarahmstvns on February 24, Case unwraps a small toy dirt bike, and immediately beams at his mother, exclaiming: “Oh my gosh, it’s a dirt bike!”

“It’s just exactly what I wanted,” he says, still smiling and holding the toy bike up to the camera as his dad sits up on the real-life version behind him, attempting—but struggling—to turn the engine on.

Case had been asking for a dirt bike for years when he was eventually surprised with one for his birthday.

When his mom asks if the blue toy bike is the “right color,” he admits he wanted red, “but it’s okay, I still like it. Thank you!”

But when his father finally fixes the issue with the bike and the engine turns on, Case turns, sees his red dirt bike, and drops the toy in shock.

And rather than rushing straight to his new bike, he instead walks to his sister, Saylor, for a hug.

“Dad forgot to turn the key to the on position before trying to start it,” Stevens explained to Newsweek. “It definitely brought some comedy—and stress—into the moment,”

TikTok users loved the video, and were especially moved by Case’s gratitude for the toy before realizing he was getting the real thing.

“What a sweet grateful baby. You raised that boy right,” one user wrote, as another said Stevens was “raising him with a grateful heart.”

“He was so thankful with the toy bike even tho it wasn’t the right color. What a sweetie,” another agreed.

Others loved how Case ran straight to his sister, with one commenter calling it her “favorite part,” and another saying: “I love how he ran straight to his sissy.”

“Saylor knew about the bike and was a gift from me, dad and herself,” Stevens told Newsweek. “They have always been very close, best friends. I think he was just so overwhelmed and Saylor was just right in front of him.

“They bicker and argue just like any siblings, but when it comes down to it, the big moments and important things, they are very much a team.”

Case’s gift was a Honda CRF 125, which the official Honda website describes as being for the ages of 10 and over, and a good bike for younger people progressing safely to more adventurous riding.

As for thousands of strangers praising their parenting for how grateful Case appeared over the toy bike, Stevens said both of their children are “generally thankful for things—we try not to put a lot of emphasis on gifts, which is maybe why this big one was so impactful.

“Many of the comments are true and we know we have good kids. I hope they continue to choose kindness and to treat others how they want to be treated.”
