1 person taken to the hospital after fire in west Charlotte

One person was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon in west Charlotte.

Charlotte fire officials responded to Fern Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. to find a home with heavy smoke showing.

Fire crews says they were able to get the fire under control in about ten minutes.

Officials did say that one person was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

So far, there is no word on that person’s condition.

Charlotte fire officials say they are looking into what caused the fire.
